Webcam in Google Chrome

I'm having trouble with getting my webcam on in google chrome. Whenever I click on start chat the browser freezes.

It works fine on Firefox and Internet Explorer but they really aren't user friendly.

Anyone else having this problem? Can anyone help?

Have you recently done a java update?

Apparently there is a vrus/bug with it, so have been declining to update mine and has worked ok so far.
