Tunnel too expensive now ferry lot cheeper also if going to Spain it not a lot of difference going from Portsmouth to Santander than driving through France with fuel and tolls

Nah, much more economical to go all the way across, and then you'll find people willing to buy your boat off you as soon as you land on the beach.
