For a while now we've been looking at buying a camper van. However, every ad is either fake or far too expensive. Would anyone be able to point us in the right direction for buying one and giving us an idea as to what would be a reasonable price for a 2 birth camper

Are you looking for a specific make?

No specific make, just relatively reliable, won't need much work doing to it too

Well VW's come with inflated "scene tax" as standard however the community is pretty amazing and there's always a campout or cruise going on.

If you're not bothered about joining the VW community then I would recommend looking for a vauxhall vivaro or small transit as you'll get more camper for your money, I reckon at the moment 7-8 grand for a decent oldish van but if you hold out until the end of the season then that should drop to somewhere in the region of 4-5 grand. Either way it really is a case of buyer beware, don't buy anything before seeing it, don't leave anyone a deposit, and bear in mind that campers do have a habit of rotting from the inside out so anything with a shiny new paint job may well be hiding a world of pain. Always have a really good luck around it ask for service history etc. Try looking for local ish vans on the book of faces place of markets.
