I'm a member through no choice due to belonging to one of their sections. Although the section I belong to is excellent, I can't say that the parent club really represents my style of camping. Far too obsessed with caravaning, for which there is already another club.
CCC had its origins in lightweight camping with particular interest from cyclists and canoeists but is now well and truly caught up in the more commercialised and upmarket aspects of what was once more of a low budget and, arguably, more enjoyable, leisure activity. |

Is this the same CCC that have the little green emblem in the shape of a flag?
Surprised to see so many here members after the experience I had with a group on a site a few years ago.
Having booked a site with exclusive use of a barn the year before to store a boat inside due to insurance requirements. The CCC group run by group leader Captain Mainwaring decided that it was their right to have the boat evicted in order hold their "best car and caravan" of the year awards as it was raining.
Instead of asking to use for a few hours, they decided they were to be selfish. After a very heated argument, agreement was made to free the barn to let them use it until 12am.
Two years later, the same group appeared at another site a few miles away due to the 'usual site' being overbooked.
While having an afternoon nap with a "friend" from another place similar to here, realised presentations were being given out.
I went outside, checked the handbrake was tight, undid each corner steady 10 turns and returned to the bed to wake up the very horny lady I'd taken away for the weekend who had no idea what was happening outside.
As things progressed, sounds inside the caravan got louder, followed by gentle rocking side to side increasing to what must of looked like it was bouncing down the A30.
After finishing, she grabbed her towel for a shower, opened the door and walked right out to a line of shocked and disgusted faces in a circle next to my caravan!!
After returning from her shower, I confessed to what I'd done to which we were both in stitches laughing.
The site warden later came over to tell me he'd received 12 complaints about our behaviour to which he told them, he has "no control over what happens inside caravans".
So, not a member. |
