I think new rules for camping off grid in England came out due to so many people doing this type of camping, it’s illegal unless you have the landowners permission..you should head to Scotland where wild camping is permitted..?? |

It's been illegal for a long time I think.
We wild all over the place. The trick is for nobody to know you were ever there. Be discrete, get in late, move off early and don't setup a campsite etc. |

Doesn’t the legal definition of wild camping ( Scotland, and where only real wild camping is allowed ) involve being a certain distance from public highway or footpath in which case using a motor vehicle may not strictly be allowed as there is a law that prohibits the use of a motor vehicle in excess of X meters from a public highway. Sorry to be a party pooper. Also remember the drink driving laws. If you like a few scoops there is a law that you can be done if in “ charge of a motor vehicle” even if not driving. Be aware. |

Quite interesting people being quite critical of people wild camping in England.
Camping as in tents on people’s land.
Camping as in parking your camper van in a quiet location on public land.
We live in the country and lots of camper vans park up in lay-bys near by but off the main roads, no problem with police, possibly because there aren’t any about here, ???? |

Some local councils will allow overnight stops in certain car parks which is a form of wild camping. I've just done this in 2 lovely spots which were free as well. Britstops is another option worth checking out for single night stops. |
