Fiat ducato camper imobiliser problem
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi. Has anyone got a fiat ducato camper. I was wondering if anyone has, or had one.
Mine has been very reliable over the years. I went out to start it a few days ago. It started first time as normal. Left the engine running until it got up to said normal temperature. Turned it off. Waited an hour or so for it to cool down. Then tried to start in again. The engine turned over, but would not start.
I know that there is, more than a half a tank of diesel. But the fuel gauge is showing empty. and the fuel light is flashing empty.
Not only that ! the central locking system does not work, or the hazard warning lights/indicators.
Does anyone know if they are all linked.
And what the problem is. Cheers in advance. |

"2 things to do with immobilizer type problem. 1 the immobilizer button n/s footwell just under the glovebox or CAL5 fuse onto the starting battery a big grey fuse." These I have checked. They are ok. I am going to try the earth strap connection. But that is under the van. And its pissing it down at the moment. Cheers. |

Thank you to the people that have been kind to leave a response to my plight. i.e personal messages also. Unfortunately I have to send the van on a low loader to a garage that has the fiat diagnostics equipment. 30 miles away.
I will post on here what the problem was. As in the future someone may have the same problem. Hopefully you don't. As I think it is going to cost me an arm and a leg.
Think positive folk. Spring on the way. Sunshine and hopefully we will be able to get away.
And to think this time last year I was trying to organise A fab meeting in the south west with some fab people.
Hey ho, The girlfriend is up for some some naturism and adult fun.
Stay safe peeps. |

Just an update regarding the fiat ducato.
My van was transported on a low loader to a fiat garage.
Part required ! engine management unit.
The only place you can get one is the Fiat factory in Spain.
As the unit has to be coded to the chassis number.
Cost of this so far. !!!!!!! £1,230
Eeeeek that was an arm and a leg.
Estimated time of unit coding and shipping, plus installation !!!
Another 3 weeks.

Few years ago I converted a Citreon Relay, same van different name. Spent some time sitting on the drive as I converted it. Drove brilliant when I bought it. Once all converted an awful noise from the engine bay and bad feedback from the clutch pedal. It still drove ok but the noise sounded like the engine was going to go Kapute. So found out it was the clutch, funny name to it and can't remember, double something or other.... Haha ender, thats what came to all your minds. Anyway I digress. It bloody cost me nearly a grand. They are not cheap to keep on the road when things go tits up.... Haha I even got Tits in the post too |

If you have a spare ignition key try to start the can with this.
The immobilized chip is in the key and sometimes gets scrambled with the pick up that is around the ignition lock behind the the steering column cowling |
