We where planning on going this year but phooey!
That's fine tits up.
So upgrading to a polycotton tent this winter and want to head out to the French France next year.
Don't want a huge family holiday park, definitely not into large touristy type place.
Quiet, tranquil with great scenery, outdoors activities such as lake or river swimming, kayaking, cycling and walking.
There's a bewildering selection and we have not a clue .
Other than possibly the Annecy areas or mountains. |

Any of the campsites in France are good, we prefer to avoid municipal as often basic but nothing wrong with them.
As for an next you are spoilt for choice along the western bank, we’ve stayed at several, all easy access to the lake and cycle path and most with a bar or restaurant near by, just varying distances from annecy town (buses are plenty) Our favourite is camping la ferme suits us a bit further out
Our bigger favourites though are terre de soleil, swingers camping near Cap or Le Sablier naturist campsite on southern ardeche- the ambience and scenery there are perfect |

Cap D’Agde swingers resort has its own massive campsite. Mainly a naturist based one with families but no clothing appreciated until evening; then the night club dresses cum out. It’s a walk to the bars and swingers clubs at night time and a short stroll to the beach during the day. At the beach, go right for naturist family style beach or go left for full on swingers daytime activity beach. Both are enjoyable! Or finally join ACSI club and get a book on decent sites across Europe at reduced rates outside of main holiday time. |

Around the Dordogne area are lots of small campsites, many of them Dutch owned that have close access to rivers and lakes for sports.
If you don’t want to go so far there are plenty of campsites with good activities nearby in Normandy and Brittany.
Most of them close for varying lengths over the winter. |
