s with great regret that we have to cancel the annual summer camp this year.
We have had to cancel despite extensive planning because of Covid 19.
A full site plan making sure all caravans. Campers and tents were 3 metres apart.
Bunk house capacity reduced to allow 2 metre distancing no hot tubs no disco just a plain everybody socialise camp.
In regards to the showers and toilets sanitster provided for use upon entry and exit and sprays so that after showering the person who has had a shower can spray the cubicle upon leaving. Same for the toilets sanitiser and spray provided for when a person exits.
Also a rota was drawn up to bleach both showers and tiolets every 2 hrs.
A temperature reader (gun) has been purchased to check all attendees upon arrival.
Also the list of everybody attending were to be asked to provide thier telephone number on arrival so that after returning home if any Covid symptoms arose they could contact us CONFIDENCIALLY and we could have informed everybody that someone had displayed symptoms.
We only yesterday 26th June sat down with the venue owner and went through everything and she was over the moon because she has had no income since March due to the nature of her business.
This is a woman who has supported us and our lifestyle vigoursly even having 5 years ago to face criticism in the press for doing so.
So why are we cancelling.
Well it's because we received a phone call from a very dear and trusted fab friend who informed us that somebody was preparing to phone the press and authoroties should the weekend go ahead this has happend once before 5 years ago and we A and S took the flack being named in the press and being contacted by them via Facebook.
But what we can't have is the venue owner being dragged into the press again they were fantastic last time and told the press to mind thier own business but these are different times and we cannot risk letting her lose what little of the season they may have left to earn a living they being where they are located are under strict guidence from the national parks authority.
Refunds will be issued as soon as Mart as got it all in order but we will not receive our Deposit back from the venue owner so people who have paid deposits will be asked to chip in £10 of thier deposit this is volentary if you do not wish to chip in then your deposit will be returned in full and steve will sort out.
We know all the regular returnees will be has disappointed as we are but we must put the owners first.
Next year was going to be one of the organisers 50th birthday haiwian themed weekend extended from the Thursday to Sunday with the marquee and disco and hog roasts. This has now also been cancelled because we've had enough
We will do NO more weekends.
Thanks to everybody who has attended over the last 7 years we have thoroughly enjoyed organising the weekends for you and hopefully you have enjoyed too.
