Have had this conversation with a few people over the years.
I'll never go on a bike.
Why ?
Went on the back of someone years ago and they scared me to death.
Heard this few times now.
What's your experiences? |

Only ridden as a pillion twice, first on a Jawa 250 and yes the rider scared me to death, but then I rode pillion on a Goldwing and that was not scary at all.
Girls generally make better pillions, blokes try to make the bike go the way they want and not the way the rider intends to go. |

I have had people in the past
Who hated there one time on the back of the bike
But after i took them out
They enjoyed being on the back
You have to build up trust
Thats the most important part of you and the person on the back
Most people i spoke to
Said that the rider just went so fast straight away
That they wouldn’t go on a bike again
All you have done is make them hate bikes
A mature rider in my mind
Would let the person on the back
Settle In and slowly up the speed say over a days ride
You have to build up to it
Not wham bam never again
Thats my rant

Went pillion with him for the first time about 4 years ago. Once he picked himself up from the shock that I'd asked, having never shown an interest, we went. A mile in I'd have happily walked home. He started slow and steady and didn't scare me off. Roll on to now and I've just passed my advanced test.
But even now there's only 2 people I'd trust enough to take me pillon. |

I ride pillion with hubby (banditrider)
He respects I'm on the back, often forgets I'm there, or so he says! Personally I think he's just being polite, because I find it hard to believe with my fat arse on the back lol.
Obviously he rides completely differently solo.
But now I've done my CBT hopefully we'll be riding side by side |

I try to take zero risks on my Vespa and i'm even more careful when i'm travelling to a rally with the wife on the back.
The scooter has a good backrest on it and she struggles to stay awake on the back sometimes |

Rode all over Europe with the wife on the back don't even know she's there apart from when she's had enough of riding for the day . perfect pillion when I want to be a dick go out on my zx6 . two different kinds of riding one nice at a steady pace take it all in stop . other out on my own my choice
