"Wow that was hard work!!

Holy shit you nearly missed it.

Quick Question... Would it be quicker to head to Birkenhead side of Mersey then back through the tunnel to get to Ferry Port or off the M6 and head through Liverpool?? never headed out from Liverpool before but this years ferry bookings are a night mare. 2019 we have booked exactly what we want from Heysham and back into Heysham

Coming down from Durham, stick to M62. It goes pretty much straight into town and it’s then almost a straight run down down to Pier Head. It’s well sign posted to the Albert Dock.

The Island is getting ready for the invasion. New beer tent - Hooden Ram (on Bushys old site is already up) Bushys are in Villa Marina gardens this year, but their tents not up yet.

Safe journey to you all

Get off M6 at junction 23 (haydock island) and get onto the A580 (east Lancashire road) towards Liverpool. This takes you all the way into Liverpool where you will pick up the signs for the ferry terminal. It's really easy.

"Four hours it just took on the phone and Internet. All booked for 2019 now"

Looks like we need to be rather more organized than we are presently for this one! We didn’t realise there is a separate page for the TT on the ferry company website until we went to have a look today. Looks like we won’t be going on the bike in 2019!

Not to worry, we might just try flying in instead. Off to text a mate to enquire about how difficult it is to arrange accommodation! But not holding our breath...

Don't give up as people cancel throughout the year. In 6 weeks it will hit home with some what they have done and booked for 2019 and not being able to go for several reasons, not told the wife or no way will be able to afford it, so 6 weeks is a funny time and a lot of spaces become available. Also the folk who have not paid in full by end of February all them places are released 1st March every year so plenty of time to get booked with your bike yet. May not get the ideal crossings but you will get booked if you are keen enough. If you don't mind camping we have details of how to book that so send us a PM if so

Hi there,

Thanks so much for the reassurance about booking. To be honest being able to think about it again in a few months time will suit us better so we can work out how the diary is looking.

We can do crossings from the UK (preferred) or Ireland if necessary!

We’ll PM you and thanks so much for letting us do that.

Best wishes,

MrsC

Not a problem. As long as you are not fussed about time of crossing or either ports, Liverpool or Heysham you shouldn't have a problem. Even this year there was crossings to be had for race week earlier this month. Yes drop us a message

Over the bridge don't go back along sea front go other way and up the hill. Top of hill where it says all traffic left, don't go left go right through the houses and out the other side. What a road that is along the cliffs and the sea to your right. A lovely cafe along there down on the right with a great sea view onto the craggy rocks

steam packet site to book. You'll be lucky to get booked now. Not cheap for campers or vans and if its an over_ized camper be prepared to be shocked

Your best bet is to ring the steam packet see what they have at the moment, if anything. However a lot of sailings will go back on sale feb/march next year when those who have paid their deposits don't pay the full amount.

And there are loads of places to park your camper. Just have a google...loads of sports clubs, campsites etc to choose from x

Lots of sailings will be 're advertised in February, obviously camping is the easiest accommodation option, hotels are all pretty much dead man's shoes for a vacancy but it's worth getting onto FB for TT2019 homestays etc. Luckily, I don't have to worry about either! Slightly overcast in Ballaugh this mornin!????

Both as good as each other but if you want to go to the greatest race and party in the world its gonna cost you, why they are sold out every year. All part of the fun is going on the bike so can't ever see us going on 4 wheels to be honest. The buzz sitting amongst all the bikes waiting to get on the ferry is amazing, even after 20 years

Just got a email reminder from them ourselves.. Payment due in full by February... What a rip off! that's why I do the Manx in my van now 2 people 3 bikes 290 quid for the week "

I do both TT and the Manx, and both awesome for different reasons

The cost of ferry is all part of it, if you think once on the island you dont pay an admission fee to watch on any of the days and no cost to walk round the pits.

And remember the isle of man government own the steam racket now

Hey ho its the best two weeks ever, we been going for 20 years so being robbed from the Steam Racket is nothing new here

We were just talking to our mates who live on the island about the government taking over the Steam Racket earlier in the year and they were saying they don't take over till next year? could have sworn we had read it was official Back in June. You are absolutely right about the advantages once there. Very addictive. Roll on 2019 and hanging on the phone/computer for hours booking 2020 visit

Where are you staying? When and where are you getting ferry from? When we take new people we like to take them up to Creg na Bar for the first view of the racing. Walk up from pub towards Kates and sit on the embankment next to the road. Be very careful not to drop anything onto road as its an arrestable offence. Any questions just ask

We travel day before you. Laxy is a lovely place. Bit quieter than Douglas where we are staying. The island is amazing so no matter where you are staying you'll have a blast. Everyone is friendly and if you tell all its your first TT everyone will help you out

You can change ferry at any time at no extra charge and once on the island jump on a ferry stand by to come back or even change it at ferry terminal, again at no extra charge. So if you are happy with your outgoing change your return when you get there. Hope that helps with your final decision

You can join the back of the cue on standby. They do discourage this but be prepared not to get on and have to ride home, it's the chance you take. At least you get a ride out on the bike. Laid back and not bothered is the way you need to be. Folk do get on the ferry though

Good little spot at Nobles Park, close to the main grandstand so Ypu can still enjoy the food/drink/retail/paddock atmosphere. I'd try booking your seat on the road side of the grandstand so you can see up the road x

I think you may be right about the Rugby pitch next to the Police station, but you can definitely camp at St George’s football pitch next too it, still on Glenclutchery Road.

There's always a bargain to be had. There's pop up shops during TT. Wouldn't say you'd get a bargain of a lifetime. It costs these people a lot of money to set up a shop for 2 weeks. We like to take 1st timers up to creg na bar to see racing as if you walk up onto the fell you can get within touching distance of the road. Awesome place for 1st time experience.

Don't forget all those who still want to go this year. All ferry places that haven't been paid by end of Feb loose deposits and go on resale to all 1st March.

To be honest arranging a meet at TT is a nightmare. Past experience tells us this. So this is a big IF. Don't want it to end up being a nightmare.

Somewhere nice

I'm at quarter Bridge from sometime around 1st till 7th. You'll find me watching racing, sunbathing (weather permitting) or inebriated/polaxed (local gestapo permitting)
