I have been looking at a new bike for this year to get back into biking, so far I have been looking at big adventure bikes.
Someone told me to consider the BMW R1100RT, anyone ride one of these, are they any good? |

The R1100RT isn't an adventure bike. You need to look at R1150GS or the newer R1200GS if you're looking for an adventure bike. The RT is a fully faired road only touring bike. The GS is a great bike, but only if you've got an above average inner leg measurement. They're quite a tall bike. |

I am about 6 foot tall, so height is not an issue.
I was talking to a mate who showed me a few of the RT's, the price was quite cheap compared to the GS.
I was after something just to eat up miles comfortably, my last bike an RF900R, had my back and shoulders aching after a couple of hours riding. |

1200RT is a good bike, stable and handles well. Still prefer my FJR though |

I have recently returned from a trip to Morocco on a 1997 R1100GS without any issues and probably the most comfortable of all bikes I have owned over 40 years! It is a better all-round bike than the RT but is hefty! There is a reason the GS has been so popular for at least 20 years
When looking at any older BMWs check the gauges and ABS work!
