I noticed loads of motorcyclists on the A55 this morning loaded with camping gear, this could only mean one thing. Sure enough when I got home and went on line I confirmed it was the dragon rally today here in north Wales.
I alway admire the hardy souls who camp out in a muddy field in February every year attending this event. They are made of far tougher stuff than I am. Are any of you going or have you been before? |

Went once, some twenty odd years ago. my mate was with me and refused to camp and found a B&B instead, he said it was too cold and wet.
He reckoned all the blokes there must have really ugly wives if they'd rather be out in this cold wet field rather than tucked up in bed with them |

D"
There are lots of pics up on Facebook showing the event, it looks bloody wet, cold and muddy but everyone seems to be having a good time. There are some mf couples in attendance I wonder if any from here went. |

"i've done 10 dragons but saw sense this year and went to PDI instead "
I'm sure I have read in MCN or somewhere there is a bike rally somewhere really cold every winter, Norway or similar have you heard of it. I would never go to it but if you can manage 10 dragons it might be something you want to look into. |

"I saw pictures on Facebook and it looked like the weather turned out ok in the end. I have a perverse idea about going next year now."
If you look on YouTube several videos have been posted about this years event that should give you a good idea what it was like. |

"I went but Foxy declined lol. Totally tropical on Saturday although the camping field was muddy. Good do!"
I can't say I blame her from what I saw on the YouTube videos it looked like it was 99% guys and 1% girls. I think the women have more sense than to go camping in February.
Good to hear you had a good time however, I guess part of the attraction is how uncomfortable the conditions can be. |

Jesus H Christ, I just checked out your profile, Foxy is amazing. If the guys knew she might have been coming with you, they would have needed three extra fields for all the additional tents. Foxy is drop dead gorgeous your a very lucky guy. |

The Elephant Rally, or Elefantentreffen, is a winter motorcycle rally, which takes place on the first weekend in February or on the last weekend in January annually in a valley between the towns of Thurmansbang and Solla in the Bavarian Forest in Germany. It is organized by the Federal Association of Motorcycle Riders in Germany.
Since 1989 it has taken place in the Bavarian forest, near the Czech border, where snow is guaranteed. Each year between 5,000 and 10,000 riders from all over Europe participate, some bringing modified motorcycles and special designs.
It is a dedicated bike rally, no cars, vans or campervans or trikes. Motorcycle and sidecar combinations are allowed now, but at one time they were not allowed on the rally site. It really is a hard-core bikers rally. |
