If your bike is over 15 years old most companies wont bring the bike home .

Carol nash is the worst of the lot .

I get mine through my bank. Hoping that they do good cover, too. I’m touring Spain through the six week holidays.

CBC Breakdown Cover were recommended to me.

I broke down in Germany. Bike was recovered by ADAC as it couldn't be repaired at the side of the road. Hotel accommodation was agreed. I got flown home. Within 48hrs. The bike was delivered back to my nominated dealer in Scotland a few weeks later.

Update: my cover comes with my nationwide flex plus bank account. Full AA cover, with full European cover for 90 days. £13 a month, includes breakdown, phone insurance and home appliances

Only used the RAC and never had to put the policy to use.

Is CBC not a comparison site ? Which company did you go with it have I found the wrong link ?

Thanks, I'll have to look into what other benefits the flex cover gives

Not home appliance. But does include world wide travel insurance. Unless home appliance cover is hidden somewhere I've not seen?

All my bikes are too old for any European cover. I hope I'd be able to sort any issues myself and at least get back to the ferry.

My theory is If I can do 2,500 miles in the UK with no problems, it should be fine in Europe.

Oh, that’s right. They scrapped the appliance cover (useless anyway). Yes, I have travel insurance with them too.

Not just breakdown it’s if you get knocked off and the bike is damaged but you are ok. Just back from 2k in Europe and had no cover.. did play on my mind. I’m with Footman James and got old and modern… need to add it at next renewal.

Breakdown cover doesn't include getting knocked off ie accident cover. I found that out last August when we got knocked off and rang RAC. They said they'd arrange recovery for me but at a price. Luckily the person's insurance who did the deed paid RAC for my recovery which was over £100. I rang round upon my breakdown recovery renewal and all said not covered in an accident only breakdown

You're right.

National Breakdown was the Assistance Provider.

The insurer was Novus Underwriting on behalf of Helvetia Schweizerisch Versichenungsgesellschaft in Liechtenstein.

Yes I have heard this from a friend, they would not bring his African twin home from Andorra because they say the cost of recovery exceeded the value of the bike.

So did they pay the "value" of the bike ?

I did over 900 miles in Spain in 5 days on my 1970's Bonnie 6 years ago. Everything was fine until leaving the ferry in Portsmouth and the clutch cable snapped. Luckily I had a spare, the worse thing was pushing it up the ramp to come off the boat.

A friend with a van is the best breakdown cover. Would have to be a good buddy to drive to Andorra and back mind you.
