How often do you change yours? I've always changed mine 5 years or if it's taken a bump. Debate at work, opinions ranged from every 2 years up to 7 years.

Near You

I've still got the one I was born with but I do like to experience new ones more frequently than every 5 years.

Replace them every 3-5 years depending on use. If dropped or banged it's gone x

4-5 years unless dropped, although I’ve only ever dropped one (it was 2 years old).

Current lid is about 4 years old now, so I’ve started looking for my next one

check out fortnine videos. he has done a few on Helmets, science and the different ratings etc.. it interesting.

you're probably OK with a few minor bumps. helmet should last but it's normally the cheekpads etc that deteriorate and don't give a firm fit.

I was told once that the gold star helmets could go up to 10 years, mine get changed after every crash or 5 years.

Cumbernauld-ish

There's a company called ( don't snigger ! ) The Helmet Inspection Company who, for £40, will test your helmet and confirm whether it has any damage / deterioration etc.

Great if you drop your lid and want total peace of mind without spending another few hundred quid on a new one just in case.

I’ve currently got a Shark Skwal , thinking of maybe upgrading to a Spartan.

The Ruroc helmets look pretty good, but I’ve seen quite a few mixed reviews about them.

I quite like the look of some of the Ixon lids too
