I have recently got an interest in classic bikes and would like one for the Sunday ride along those country lanes. Dose anyone here have classics and could teach me the does and donts as some old ones you need to run with to start them, some have different leavers for compression and so forth. So completely different to the modern just push a button. Etc. happy to spend time together to learn the skills. |

Depends on the age and wether you buy an old British, Japanese or European bike.
The Japs and European bikes will probably have a kick start and an electric start so no need for de-compression levers. These will also have fuel taps and a chok* lever which modern bikes generally don't.
British bikes are generally kick start only and possibly a de-compression lever, to help make it easier to start. When you kick start one of these, you need to find top dead centre otherwise you can end up with a painful leg.
Also British bikes have a tickler to help with pumping the petrol through instead of a chok* lever.
Some of the stuff is difficult to describe while typing ( it is for me anyway). Feel free to message me If you want any more info. |

First bigger bike I had in the early '70's after passing my test was a 500cc Triumph T100S..With the exception of my current Bonnie SE, my Tiger100 was possibly the most enjoyable to ride, handled so well and could pull like fuck and reach a ton with or without a pillion, and easily matched/exceeded performance of a Bonnie750 I had years afterwards.. |

I love my bikes too so looking to add to my collection very soon. I’m going to Holland next week to look at two two strokes that I’m interested in. They are not as old as the bikes you are talking about. A Kawasaki KR1S and a RD 500 |

Are they more affordable over there? Been looking at 2 smokers myself, but prices are absolutely crazy. |
