Don't necessarily choose to go out if the weather is particularly bad, but don't put the bike off the road over winter. Some of the crisp winter days are perfect for a ride, especially a bit of off road when the tracks are dry and the grass is white and crispy. Love it. |

I’m an all year round biker.
Does anyone else have problems with brakes sticking in the wet weather? I think it’s the gunk from the road or something. Can anyone shed shone light on it and how you avoid it? |

Black shit builds up around piston & caliper.
Drop the wheel, give the lever 1 squeeze, use brake cleaner and a toothbrush to clean around the pots.
Lube the piston with red rubber grease and push back before refitting the wheel.
My turn now... how the fuck do you keep floating discs free during winter?
It's a pain having to free them off all the time. |

Excellent advice. Thanks a lot! I’ll give it a try. |

A small Allen bolt and nut in the bobbin then turn with a ratchet and Allen end as you spray brake cleaner into the bobbin |

I only ride for fun unless I absolutely have to. But I don’t take it off the road and will take it out for a run as long as the weather isn’t too bad right through the winter.
Been out for a run around the dales today too |

"All year bikers , raise your hands "
I'll just nod as we pass if that's OK. I don't wave on my bike!
15k on my SV650 last year, all weather baring snow. Because I didn't want to die!
Won't take my simmer bike out because no abs, traction control or rider modes and 170bhp terrifies me in the rain. |

Keep the bikes on the road all year round. Bit of a chore when it’s not nice out, but got to keep them running to keep battery in good condition and refuelled with fresh Petrol.
I say ‘chore’, but I always enjoy when I’m out, even if it’s a short run.
Winter is depressing enough without the thought of not having a bike to ride because they are put in to hibernation. |

"I would if the bloody thing didn't keep going wrong. My Honda's never broke down. Buy a bloody Triumph and it spends more time off the road than on"

Does anyone have a dedicated winter bike? I had an old Honda XR200 for the winter 2020/21 commute and replaced it with a cheap Honda CBF 125 which I like that much I kept it. |

"Hands up here.
Ride all year round - except on ice. That buggers got us a couple of times." It got me a few weeks ago and seconds after leaving home, filtering past traffic and doing less than 15mph! Lets just say that my wallet hurts more than I did! |

After a night of rain a day of sun the last thing I was expecting was a burgeoning patch of ice on a bend. Bike and gear now all broken but apart from a very bruised little finger and a few aches n pains I'm fine - testament to good protective gear. Stay safe folks. |

was all year round in my20's, 30's & 40's
but this decade the bike is put away 1st Dec to end of Feb, I have no need to risk wrecking an expensive bike by hitting leaves or ice |

I rode all year round in my youth as i only had a bike licence and a sense of invincibilty.
Not a chance now, older and wiser.
I envy those who do. I can' t justify riding in ice and snow, during winter and risk injury and time off work, when i have a car. |

Update: After someone scr@p1ng the side of their car right along my exhaust, an inch away from a mangled leg, I have decided to reduce my winter riding to daylight hours only, and only necessary journeys. If I can easily go by public transport, I’ll do that instead.
I never thought I’d do this, as I’ve been an all year-round rider for a few years, now. But, it just doesn’t seem safe, at the moment. |
