I've got a 2015 xr which is the same engine, people have issues with cams and water pumps. I've never had problem with it. It's jack of all trades master at non. It was good for me going from an r1 but not ready for the gs. |

Luckily I had slowed rite down and just slide up the road and managed not to hit anything,extremely lucky.i heard of something similar happen to a fella but he ended up in a very bad way, I wouldn't go near another one. Sticking to the japs. |

Generally they are not so bad..gen 1 to 3 ones are all good. There can be a problem gearbox side if your too ham fisted with it but generally they aren't so bad. New ones, you can get problems with shift cams and gearboxes seem to be a bit fragile but to be fair thats in extreme cases and mainly only effects ones that are being or have been raced. |

I've got a 2017 S1000r....
It's not perfect, bit vibey, nil wind protection, no centre stand, no viable luggage options (get an XR if you need that), hard suspension.... but it's as fast as fuck, handles well, stops quickly without any fuss, easy to ride and the only issue I have had was water ingress into switch gear cluster (replaced under warranty). It's a better bike than I am a rider. It's a buzz to ride and I'm very happy with it. |
