Which Harley to hire for ride across america
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi,
My advice would be based on the following questions
Depends on what you currently ride,
will you carrying a pillion,
How many miles do you think you will do I a day,
What type of roads you are riding on
As if I was to choose I would look at the touring range and if carrying a pillion either the Electra Glide ultra limited or Road Glide Ultra Limited if solo riding then for me the Street Glide or Road Glide.
But if you want more advice let me know as I have owned and still ride Harleys

A Harley???... You what??? I just gagged on me weetabix there. Do not fall for that Route 66 Wild Hogs shite.
You want to do big miles.
You definitely want to be comfy and you absolutely do not want to worry about reliability....
Hire a Pan European or as the yanks like to call them, an ST1300.
You know it makes sense. |

"Not doing Route 66. But am of the opinion if going across America got to be a HD "
It’s your trip mate, you choose what bike you want. Don’t listen to the haters, they can’t help themselves lol. Maybe try a few demo rides of various makes and models which you like. After that you can pick your Harley if that’s what your set on. I’d recommend one that has sat nav, getting lost continuously over gets tedious very quickly. Have a great time. You’ll love it. |

Just curious, whatever does it end up costing to hire one with all the insurance & everything else that's in the small print? I did a long US trip some years back but bought & sold a bike over there. Insurance & paperwork was a bit of a hassle though.
