There’s an nc500 Facebook group.

What are you using to navigate?

A route? Good question...

If you do the run clockwise, keep the water on your left.

If you do it anti clockwise, keep the water on your right.

There you go... enjoy the ride, enjoy God's country, be nice to the locals and worry less about riding a route for the sake of it being a route.

Don’t be pressured to stick to the route just enjoy it and ride where you want! If you go off track exploring who cares!!

You camping or hotels?

As above use the nc500 Facebook page, loads of useful tips there. I've used booking.com for a range of hotels/b&bs everytime Ive been. Ullapool is a great place to stop for the night.

We and 4 friends are going in May, a mixture of accommodation booked. Have joined the FB group and found it very helpful, so looking forward to it.

Thoroughly recommend doing it anti-clockwise i.e. start in Inverness. The East coast is good and you can do distilleries, Dunrobin castle etc. but as you head West the scenery gets more and more dramatic. Enjoy and pack for the weather i.e. assume winter all year
