Just finished it. Excellent time was had, I'd advise doing it Anticlockwise.

Yup I'd second that - there are some good sights to see on the East coast to start with but the scenery just gets more and more dramatic as you go West

I totally agree. Done the NC500 many times... it's right on my doorstep.... either direction is brilliant, but anticlockwise is probably slightly better just because the east coast scenery isn't as spectacular as the west's... leaving the best til last. Have a great time and spend freely with the local businesses, who depend on tourism and need your support.
