Anybody know of any green lanes to go riding around the cardiff area? Any groups out there that go out on a regular basis?

Not in your neck of the woods but look up Trans European Trail. (TET)

It has all the legal (off-road) byways on gps files for you to download.

There’s something like 44,000kms in Europe including England & Wales.

Definitely take a look at the above or have a look at routes I. ViewRanger for your area.

What are you riding ?

Thanks both, had a look at the suggestions and found some good trails to venture out on.

I'm riding a Tenere 700, so far only on road but thought if its capable of doing off road - why not? Need to brush up my off road techniques a little bit with some milder terrains first though.

Take a look at one of the off-road courses in Wales? The T7 is more than capable machine. Take it easy and get the proper tyres and you’ll be fine.

TRF are really good to join up with. There’s a good route up around hay on wye - Builth Wells - route plotted on ViewRanger etc

There’s also a Yamaha off road school up in mid wales. And a Green laning experience/hire over in Melksham - days ride up over Salisbury Plain

Have a search for brake-magazine as there are quite a few videos on there to get guidance from.

I've had a look at TRF and think they meet up once a month in the Cardiff area...so definitely something to pursue in the new year. Anybody else on here already a member?

Also going to get my sat nav mounted on top of my display screen (as long as it doesnt shake to much) and download some trails from there. I'm a bit of a novice off road, so slow and steady definitely the way to go with me to stop me face planting in a ditch somewhere!

You’ll be wondering why you didn’t do it years ago after your first few rides.
