I have an X-lite ultra carbon which is excellent at high speeds (160mph+)
it has a great airflow and cuts the air fine at these speeds, also very light and comfortable to wear.
I also have a Simpson, which looks the part but a nightmare at anything over the ton, especially on naked bikes (no fairing) |

Definatly the best helmet is the one that fits properly a £200 helmet that fits properly is better then a £500 helmet thats too big
Go to a few shops and try on defferent bands dont be shy xx |

Totally agree with everyone saying the one that fits best. I’ve had Caberg, Schuberth and AGV but only use my AGV now. Tried Arai and Shoei but they dont like the ovalness of my head lol Couple of mates use them but can’t use the AGVs etc as they’re heads are too round... so best fit for you always works.
I’ve used the SHARP test website to see the safety ratings of what I’m looking for too. It’s a guide and not the be all and end all though. |

i always raced with agv helmets.
and when i crashed at over 200 mph at mugello it saved my life.
the chin part was missing and the visor mounts snapped clean off but the helmet around my head remained intact minus track wear marks down to the inner shell.

My last two helmets were SUOMY and found them to be very comfortable and stable on my head even at over 180 mph and the first one was crash tested and it did it's job well. Before that I used AGV helmets found them very good but not quite as comfortable as SUOMY. Hope this helps.

Been an agv man all my days, they've been good. Always found the visors a bit on pricey side tho...do like an iridium one
Recently changed to shark spartan ( the lorenzo shark one ) and its great..visor change is good , internal sun visor and vents are easy and went and got the shark tooth Bluetooth and its all nice n discretely fitted .
Ultimately it does come to fit,...and id say it seems to fit better than my agv s but that's individual head shape really |

I flit between a hjc c90 flip up & a Harley-Davidson Pilot II
Both matte black/black visors
The hjc is comfy, cool, looks good is light & has pinloc insert & flips up so usefull in petrol stations ect thoroughly rate it.. was around £120
The pilot 2 is my helmet for when im on group ride outs its more for looks  |

Scorpion are pretty good. One of the most comfortable and snug fitting lids I own. Pump up the bags and its not shifting at all!!
A tad on the heavy side but, only a tad! Sun visor, good vents, good tinted/mirrored visor, pinlock, good graphics.
No where near as good as my Shoe. But that double the price! |

Considering all helmets have to pass the same safety standards, for protection cheap vs expensive isn't the issue so much.
Mostly what changes with price is the airflow and noise dampening.
If you're doing many miles and spending a long time at med to high speed, go expensive..
If yer just nipping to work and back get a cheapie.
I pay around £80 to £150 for my helmet when it needs replacing. If I'm having a long rideout I'll just take some earplugs. |

I've been wearing a Shoei gt air for the last couple of years. I tried quite a few others and found this to be the best fit. I think that is the most important driving factor. It also had the right fit for my glasses which was a big plus, and has an integrated dark visor which I considered a real practical bonus.
One thing that does bother me is the noise. I've really no idea how it compares because until you are doing the legal limit, you can't make a judgement.
But I would take on board the comment made by someone else here about considering a cheaper helmet and use earplugs... |
