| Not a positive experience unfortunately.
I’m fairly new to the scene and this was my first time visiting a club, so thought I would give my local one a try.
I turned up alone, which was a big thing for me and arrived around 9:30. Was greeted by the barman (Andy) who signed me up for membership (£10 annual fee and £25 entry fee for single guys). I was then shown around by a guy called John and the rules etc were explained to me. Both seemed friendly enough.
The facilities were better than expected, after reading negative reviews on here. Downstairs is a main area where the bar is and a pool table, with pornography played on 2 TV screens. There is also a hot tub in the outside smoking area, that you get to through a corridor. Upstairs there are 2 private rooms, a few open rooms and a sauna, along with another smoking area.
No alcohol is served, you bring your own and soft drinks are reasonably priced at £2.50 for 500ml.
I must have picked a quiet night, as it was dead at 9:30, and it only slightly picked up by the time I left around 1am. Interacted with a few single guys upstairs briefly, but overall was sat on my phone all night texting friends, as the atmosphere was pretty dead. People who were already in there seemed to know each other and were engaging with each other, but as a single guy new to the place, it didn’t seem particularly welcoming for me. Almost felt invisible.
The owners Adam and Jodie arrived around midnight. I would have thought that as a new face, I would have been greeted, as is the case in business, you spend time with new customers to make sure they stick around, but no such luck.
The night took a turn for the worst when an entitled princess walked by me close to 1am and accused me of filming / photographing her, as she saw my screen flash up on my phone as she walked by. She alerted Adam and he asked to see my phone, which I showed him. No pictures had been taken and this was proven. She then accused me of using Snapchat. I’m 38, not 12, I don’t have Snapchat. I suspect that she knew I hadn’t taken any pictures and it was purely a power play on her part, having the ability to have any guy removed that was audacious enough to make eye contact with her.
I was then asked to leave by Adam, which I did. I get why he did it, it was to make her feel more comfortable, but it’s just not good business to be treating new visitors like that because (a) it leads to bad reviews like this, and (b) it makes people want to not come back and the place definitely won’t grow.
My overall opinion is that the facilities were OK and the drinks were reasonably priced. It’s more like a house party than a club, and it works if you are a couple and know other couples in there.
Single women were non-existent during my visit, which is why they are incentivised to attend by not paying to get in. But single women are never short of male attention, so they don’t really need to attend a swingers club, they can get that in a regular club / bar.
As a single guy, probably not the best place to go, as most sexual interactions happen between couples. I witnessed no single men going upstairs with couples, only couples going up together. Single guys would benefit more from interacting with couples on fabswingers and arranging hotel / house meets.
Pretty sure I won’t be attending again (not sure if I’m banned) but even if I wasn’t, it just didn’t feel that welcoming to me as a single guy. Will likely try Quest and Pandora in Leeds next time. I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about these venues.
